Madison Elle Beer from Long Island, New York was an early fan of music. She started posting videos in 2012, in which she performed covers of popular songs. Justin Bieber, the pop idol, discovered her rendition of Etta Jam's "At Last", and shared the song with his more than 25 million followers on Twitter. Following the coverage by the media, she signed a record contract with Island Records and was also given a contract as a manager by Bieber's manger. At that point, Beer was also cast in a small part in the film Louder Than Words, which included David Duchovny and made its premier at the festival late in 2013. The poppy and melismatic "Melodies," her debut single, was also released in late 2013.
